History and future

The Home Team Heroes game project started in 2022 after years of searching for a nice football-themed board or card game. Unfortunately, since I couldn't find an engaging one, the thought "what kind of game would I like to play with my friends" began to take shape.

With several prototypes and testing, the game started to be completed step by step. During the planning process, the game project also participated in the 12-week Startup pre-incubator program organized by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in the fall of 2023, which culminated in a "Lion's Den"-type event. Home Team Heroes was awarded the best pitching of the event.

The game was released for sale in Finland on January 1, 2024, but the story is just beginning. In the future, we will introduce new sets of cards, new features of player cards, and rare, shiny foil-coated cards for the pleasure of collectors.

In addition to the new game, the real innovation is the possibility to create any (at this stage domestic) team with pictures and logos in the game - regardless of level, gender or age. From the league to divars, juniors and hobby series. Since traditionally board or card games are cost-effectively manufactured in large batches of identical copies, customization in small production batches required new solutions. Thanks to fantastic partners and the latest technical developments, this finally turned out to be financially feasible, specifically in that the service is completely free for clubs and teams.

Our passion is to create new things and develop constantly. The sale of the game's generic starter packs is expanding abroad as early as 2024. In the future, our goal is to enable fundraising for teams internationally and for teams to participate in the Home Team Heroes game. Wouldn't it be great to open a booster pack of cards with real players of all levels from around the world, while your team earns an equal share of the product sold with all other teams, regardless of whether the purchase was made in London or Rovaniemi?
